Using The Roadmap

The roadmap is designed to help you see more clearly, and to serve as a reference guide to help you stay on track.

The doing becomes easier when you have a map to follow.

So, which level are you operating your business at?

Answer the question based on where you’re currently at.

If you’re thinking to yourself “I thought I should be further along by now…” don’t judge yourself too harshly.

Be honest with yourself.

You are exactly where you need to be in your own journey.

Remember, this is NOT a race!

Once you’ve identified the level you’re currently operating at, refer to the needs your business requires of you at your level and ask yourself the important questions.

Re-read through the page, and go over the questions as many times as you need. Don’t be tempted to skip ahead or rush the process, focus on the level you’re operating at.

If any of your answers come back as a ‘NO’, then here’s a little exercise to help you find answers for yourself…

Reframe the questions with “How can I…”.

Here’s a few examples:

  • Do I enjoy doing the work I’m delivering and offering? No. → How can I enjoy the work I’m delivering and offering?
  • Are we creating great customer experiences? No.→ How can we create great customer experiences?
  • Am I continuing to empower, guide and lead my team to success? No.→ How can I continue to empower, guide and lead my team to success?

Reframing the questions opens up your mind to find the answers. Your answers give you clues to WHAT you need to work on.

Then do the work for best results.

For ease of reference, I’ve included links to every page of this series:

It’s normal to spend a few years to expand your capacity and acquire the skills and/or resources you need to fulfil the needs of your business at each level.

Because every business owner is a unique individual with different capacity and skillsets, the priority in which you do the work required at each level and HOW you do the work will obviously be different. It all depends on your unique situation and how you’re naturally designed to use your energy.

In business and life, nuances matter a helluva lot. The devil is always in the details.

You can waste a lot of time, energy and resources doing the right thing at the wrong time (or in the wrong sequence). Speaking from experience, doing the right thing at the wrong time is still the wrong thing.

Instead of trying to do everything at once, it’s more effective to focus on the most impactful 5% that propels you forward so you can then focus your energy and resources on implementing the next 5%.

This is why general, one-size-fits-all advice and cookie-cutter approaches you find in the homogenised business world are mostly ineffective and inefficient.

If you’re looking for a guide to help you focus and give you the customised guidance and support you need, I’d love to help you navigate this crazy yet interesting entrepreneurship journey.

I’d love to help you utilise your energy and resources more efficiently so you can fast track yourself to your desired destination.

If you resonate with my work and feel like I’m the right person to guide and support you, then I invite you to reach out to me.

If this is not the right time for you, that’s absolutely ok too.

In business and life, it’s critical to do what feels correct for you. It’s always better to trust your own timing and your inner compass, and work with people you trust and truly resonate with.

I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea. I also know I’m not here to guide anyone and everyone, because my energy is limited.

Regardless of whether you work with me or not, I’ll be waving my pom-poms cheering you on. Anyone who is courageous enough to forge their own path in life and strive to become the highest version of themselves has my utmost respect.

If you found the roadmap useful and valuable, share it with your business owner friends and family members. The world needs more Exceptional Businesses.

If you want to stick around, feel free to add yourself to my email list.

This is the beginning of my life’s work, and there’s a lot more to come. If you’re on my email list, you’ll be the first to be notified when I publish new work.

I’ll also be continuing to improve the roadmap over time. So I’d love to hear your feedback. Let me know how it has helped you, tell me what sucked and what you wish I included.

Shoot me a message here, I’m all ears.

Journey well.
